Commando

Movie Review

Kernel Matrix (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is a specially trained soldier and now a retired veteren who used to serve for special operations usually regarding some political reasons which needed attention by the forces. For this he has formed many enemies which seek to get him. Living a peaceful life in the forest filled hills with his 11 year old daughter Jenny (Alyssa Milano), he gets intruded by an armie helicopter and is told that there's terrorists causing trouble and the man who trained him General Franklin Kirby (James Olson) has brought armed men to protect the area until they nail the terrorists.

Already as the film starts you can see that Kernel Matrix is very well trained and sneaks up on General kirby snatching his gun while he doesn't even notice. This brings out the potential to Arnold's character and an amazing combatant for which he seems to of already proven by just his size, strength and swift looks.

From near start the action starts and Kernel Matrix is intruded upon by some criminal visitors from his past dealings. Bennett is sent out with a group of other men to capture Kernel Matrix and his daughter in which they plan to get him to assasinate a man in power from Latin America so that Arius (Dan Hedaya) can obtain the power.

From then on you can tell Matrix is majorly pissed off, with the fact that his daughter has been kidnapped and he's in a position to deal with these crooks again with a time limit added to the pressure. General Kirby remarks it's the start of World War III. This movie has fantastic action in which Arnold had to perfectionise his combat to make it realistic and keep those critics at bay. with some amazing scenes which shouldn't be missed that have already been commented upon Mike Vendrell (a fight choreographer) who was impressed and stated "I was told bodybuilders were slow, ..but Arnold moved like a cat!" .

There may be lots of fighting and action in this movie, although it also shows Arnold's real side. From the early start when he's with his daughter playing a caring, understanding and gentle father which is rarely seen.

The Director commented that no one else would of been capable of what Arnold did during the filming of this movie, and that he's as beautiful inside as his outside allowing lots of fun on the set and work when work needed to be done. Co Star Rae Dawn Chong remarked, "He's very generous and gentle. And a real movie star!" Remember this movie was made in the 80s and is trully a classic action flick not to be missed.
