Movie Review
Last Action Hero recieved a very poor rating when it was released.
The Plot is about a young kid named Danny (Austin O'Brien) who is a great fan of the series
Slater, the star of the series is Arnold Schwarzenegger one night he goes to a New York
movie theatre to see an advanced screening of Slater IV, he recieves a magical ticket from
the theater projectionist Nick (Robert Prosky) in which results him being caught up inside
the movie with his favourite action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger.
While Danny is inside this strange but perfect world of movies he uses his knoweledge of the
series to help Slater keep one step ahead of the baddies in the movie in which the main
characters are the gang lord (Anthony Quinn) and his hitman Benedict (Charles Dance).
In this real comical world Danny keeps trying to explain to Jack Slater that all this
is a movie and on many occassions tries to prove it, in one instance he points out that
why are all the numbers prefixed with 555 when there are millions of people in Los Angeles
(city set for Slater IV) and Slater being the tough one says, "that's why we have area codes".
Later on they both (Jack Slater & Danny) end up back in the real world of Danny's area
New York city. This happens as one of the baddies escapes to the real world. Slater now
realises the real world and is no longer in a world of movies but reality and reality
hurts.
There are many funny / humorous moments in the movie, and hidden things from other movies.
One interesting part of the movie is when Danny visualises Jack Slater in the Hamlet
(shakespear) and remakes the scenes to a Jack Slater environmnent.
If you don't like action flick then you are most probably not going to like this movie.
It contains many interesting turns and bends throughout the movies and shows us reality
and fantasy whilst the movie is playing. Even though it did badly financially, and was
expected more of dissapointing some fans, it was still an interesting movie which is
more re-watchable then some others.
